Governor Richardson Establishes Climate Change Advisory Group and Strong Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets

Governor Richardson has established specific greenhouse gas reduction targets for New Mexico, and an advisory group process to develop policy recommendations for achieving them. Information about this process can be found at www.nmclimatechange.us.

A local New Mexico group has formed, called the Climate Change Action Project, to bring more citizen input to this process.

A number of states have undertaken similar processes, and have developed fairly strong plans as result. The New Mexico process will be a well supportive effort involving a large number of stakeholders. CCAE hopes that a strong set of policy recommendations will result that will increase the rate of renewable energy and energy efficiency progress in New Mexico.
